The Reamker, the Cambodian version of the Ramayana, dates from the second millennium. We find various stories from this epic in the frescos of Angkor Wat. They tell the tale of the life of Prince Preah Ream: the birth of his future wife, Séda, the wedding of Neang Séda and Preah Ream, their exile from the throne, the kidnapping of Neang Seda by Reap, the war that follows, and his re-conquest of the throne.
