The Sacred Dancers of Angkor commemorated a powerful Meak Bochhea at the Bakan of Angkor (uppermost central sanctuary of the world’s largest religious complex) with elaborated and intricated offerings.
Monks and dancers in all their purity marched around the outer gallery at the top of the centre tower in a procession of 1250 candles in reverence of the 1250 disciples who spontaneously gathered around Lord Buddha to hear His last Teachings in order to spread it around the World.
Prayers, chants and 3 dance rituals were dedicated to Lord Vishnu, King Suryavarman II and all the Divinities and Deities of Angkor, invoking the Spiritual Forces to bless the Land and the People.
Highly emotional experience as one of the Cameraman recording the Sacred Dances around the World cut through the most sacred line of the sanctorium and altar so absorbed he was in his shooting that “he had an awful fall and was gravely injured”.
A disturbed Achar who warned everyone beforehand said that it was the manifestation of the displeasure of the Gods who sent through this strong message the reminder to respect the Gods and the Holy places. In 33 previous dedicated angkorian temples rituals this is the very first of such incident.
